Good vision, head up, look around..... all these phrases used by coaches but what do they mean? Let us tell you!
What? - The ability to know what is going on around you at all times on the football field.
Why? - You need to be aware of where your team mates and where the opposition are at all times.
How? (with the ball) looking for a pass, other players movment and avaliable space around you, while keeping the ball protected from the opponent.
How? (without the ball) shake off your marker and move into space making eye contact with the player with the ball.
Who? Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, Ben Watson and Juan Mata are all great example players to watch execute this. They are constantly on the move, with and without the ball, looking round ready to receive and know the next pass when they have the ball.
We focus on this key skill at all ages and teach this at all our classes.
